Fun, personal ceremonies that don't feel rigid.

Only three things are legally required

I say I'm authorised to marry you. You both say your legal vows. We sign the paperwork with your two witnesses.

Everything else is up to you, so let's make it yours.

How it works

  1. You enquire and I confirm your date is free.

  2. I send you an info pack: who I am, how I work, and a guide to the numbers.

  3. We meet on Zoom or Teams and talk about your plans.

  4. I send you a tailored proposal.

  5. You give me the thumbs up and we're away.

  6. We catch up at key milestones, and in between you can reach me any time.

Everything included, no hidden costs

  • Lodging your notice of intended marriage
  • A PA system and microphone
  • Your ceremony music, played and faded at the right moments
  • Spare rings, just in case
  • Registering your marriage afterwards
  • Your marriage certificate, posted to you
  • Anything else your ceremony needs

Your ceremony is a surprise

I write your ceremony from our chats, your questionnaires and the vibe you give me. Then I keep it under wraps until the day.

You don't get many genuine surprises in life, so let this be one of them. How something reads on paper and how it sounds out loud are two very different things. I'm asking you to trust me on this one.

Love all, serve all

It's a line I borrowed from Hard Rock Cafe, and it's how I run my business.

Every couple, every size, every kind of celebration. Big party or quiet elopement, cultural traditions, blended families, second time around. If it matters to you, it matters to me.

Don't take my word for it

Plenty of celebrants will tell you what they do. My socials show it.

★★★★★

After bonding over burritos in our first Zoom meeting, we knew John was going to be perfect for us. John guided us every single step of the way through our wedding and felt more like a friend than just a celebrant the entire time.

Every dumb question, at all hours of the day, was answered with patience. And when it came to the big day, everything just fell into place beautifully with John's help.

Melbourne marriage celebrant questions

Quick answers. Anything else, just ask.

Can we legally get married?

You can marry in Australia if you're both 18 or over (or 16 or 17 with court approval to marry someone 18 or over), you're not already married to anyone else, you're not closely related, and you're both able to genuinely consent.

When do we lodge our notice of intended marriage?

At least one month and no more than 18 months before your wedding. I'll walk you through it and lodge it for you.

Who do we need as witnesses?

Two witnesses, both 18 or over. They'll co-sign your paperwork on the day.

Do we get to read the ceremony before the day?

If you really back me into a corner, yes. But I'd rather you trust me and let it be a surprise. How a ceremony reads on paper and how it sounds out loud are two very different things.

What's included in your celebrant fee?

Lodging your notice of intended marriage, a PA system and microphone, your ceremony music, spare rings, registering your marriage and your marriage certificate posted to you. Celebrant packages start from $1,750. See the price guide.

Can we include cultural or family traditions?

Of course. Sometimes that means I learn something new, and I'm always happy to.

Do we need a rehearsal?

Rehearsals are fairly uncommon these days and usually not needed. If you'd like one, let me know and if I can make it work, I will.

How do I change my name after the wedding?

I'll send you everything you need. You can't change your passport or licence until your marriage is registered, which usually takes four to six weeks. On the day, sign with your current legal name.

Is your date still free?

Tell me a little about your plans and I'll come back to you with availability and my info pack. Rather talk? Call 0407 877 232.
