Wedding celebrant cost in Melbourne
What you pay, what you get, and what changes the price.

What I charge, in plain numbers
My celebrant packages start from $1,750. Wedding DJ starts from $2,350 and wedding MC from $900.
Those are starting points, not set prices. No two weddings are the same, so after we meet I send a tailored proposal with a running sheet, some ideas you might not have considered, and your price. Even if you go with someone else, you're welcome to keep the ideas.
Book more than one service and a discount applies. See the celebrant, DJ and MC package.
What a celebrant fee should include
- Lodging your notice of intended marriage
- All legal paperwork, including Births, Deaths and Marriages fees
- A ceremony written for you
- A PA system and microphone
- Ceremony music played and faded at the right moments
- Spare rings, just in case
- Registering your marriage afterwards
- Your marriage certificate posted to you
When you compare quotes, check each of these is in the price. A cheap quote that adds the PA, music and certificate later isn't cheap.
What changes the price
Mostly, it's the scope of work.
Ceremony type
A legals only paperwork signing is a very different job to a fully personalised ceremony in front of your nearest and dearest. For weekday and legals only weddings, see Weekday Weds.
Guest numbers
Guest numbers don't change my price unless you're over 300 guests and need external AV production.
Travel
Melbourne, the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula are usually simple. Flights, accommodation and work visas for overseas weddings are quoted separately.
DJ and MC costs
A wedding DJ starts from $2,350 with premium lighting and backups included. A wedding MC starts from $900. Booking them with your celebrant usually costs less than three separate vendors, and it's one brief instead of three.
No hidden costs. What we agree on is what you pay. You pay 15% to lock in your date and the rest by the day before your wedding.

Wedding celebrant cost questions
Quick answers. Anything else, just ask.
How much does a wedding celebrant cost in Melbourne?
My celebrant packages start from $1,750 and include all legal paperwork and the Births, Deaths and Marriages fees. Your tailored proposal confirms the final price.
Why do celebrant prices vary so much?
Scope. A legals only signing takes far less time than a fully written, personalised ceremony with a PA, music and planning meetings.
Is a cheaper celebrant a better deal?
Not always. Check whether the quote includes paperwork, PA, music and the certificate. The cheapest price isn't always the best value.
Is the marriage certificate extra?
Not with me. Unless we agree otherwise, your marriage certificate is included in your fee.
How much is a wedding DJ in Melbourne?
My wedding DJ packages start from $2,350 including lighting. See wedding DJ.
How much deposit do you need?
15% up front to lock in your date, with the balance due by the day before your wedding.
Do you offer payment plans?
Pay the balance however suits you, as long as it's done by the day before your wedding.
Is there a discount for booking multiple services?
Yes. A discount applies when you book more than one of celebrant, DJ and MC.
Is your date still free?
Tell me a little about your plans and I'll come back to you with availability and my info pack. Rather talk? Call 0407 877 232.
