Melbourne wedding MC

The formalities run on time. Your guests get to be guests.

John Edney on the microphone as wedding MC during the formalities

More than a voice on a microphone

Running sheet, venue coordination, entrances, speeches, announcements, the cake and the first dance.

A good wedding MC does far more than speak and crack a few jokes. I work with your venue and every vendor to keep the day on time, and when something goes wrong behind the scenes, experience makes it look like it was meant to happen.

I'm professionally voice trained and I've been on the mic at weddings and events since 2005. I never move into a formality without checking in with you first, and I'll make sure you're looked after, which sometimes means reminding you to eat.

Want music too? I'm also a Melbourne wedding DJ, so there's no awkward silence between the speeches and the dance floor.

What your MC handles

  • Building the running sheet with you and the venue
  • Briefing your photographer and videographer on timings
  • Bridal party and couple entrances
  • Introducing speeches and keeping them on time
  • Cake cutting, first dance and the bouquet toss
  • Announcements, housekeeping and last drinks

MC packages start from $900. See the price guide.

Why not a friend as MC?

You can, but unless they're a professional I wouldn't recommend it.

Your friends and family deserve to be guests. A professional MC spots the delays before anyone else does, keeps the kitchen and the speeches in sync, and quietly fixes the things you'll never hear about.

Kate and Tim on their wedding day, married by celebrant John Edney

★★★★★

John is absolutely incredible. We were lucky enough to have John as our Celebrant, DJ & MC for our wedding. John was approachable, funny, caring and so responsive through the whole process.

A number of our guests asked how long we'd been friends with John because the ceremony and music were just so perfectly us. They were shocked when we told them today was the first time we'd met in person.

Melbourne wedding MC questions

Quick answers. Anything else, just ask.

What does a wedding MC do?

Your MC builds the running sheet, coordinates the venue and vendors, introduces entrances and speeches, and keeps every formality on time so you can enjoy the night.

How much does a wedding MC cost in Melbourne?

My MC packages start from $900. A discount applies when you combine MC with DJ or celebrant services.

Can you MC and DJ at the same wedding?

Yes. My setup lets me run formalities from anywhere in the room, then bring the music straight in. See DJ and MC.

Will you check in with us during the night?

Always. I never move into a formality without talking to you first.

How early does the MC arrive?

At least an hour before the reception starts, so I can meet the venue team and check the microphones.

Can you help with speech timings?

Yes. I'll give your speakers a time guide and keep things moving politely if someone runs long.

What if a speech gets left at home?

We do what we can in the moment, which might mean emailing it to me so I can pull it up on my iPad.

Is your date still free?

Tell me a little about your plans and I'll come back to you with availability and my info pack. Rather talk? Call 0407 877 232.
